Toothless Plushie by Wolfespirit Toothless Plushie by Wolfespirit
**This is the first plushie I've ever made**
Well, here's what I've been a-working on for the past week or so. A gigantic plushie of Toothless the Dragon from "How to Train Your Dragon"! He's mostly machine stitched, although his wings and his neck are hand sewn. He's made up of super-cudlely black fleece, and is filled with about 2 bags of stuffing and his feet with one cup each of poly pellets. His eyes are felt, and on his forehead and front legs are hand-cut scales made of black felt and are glued on with (yes) hot glue. Fabric glue just plain hates me... That's my little sister holding Toothless just for size comparison. Not really sure how many hours it took because I did it on and off (really lazy with cutting out patterns). I'm planning on making a much smaller one for my basket when I'm at the Renaissance Faire.

Plushie ish mine :3

Here's the link to her finished Toothless and where she provides a link to the tutorial!

You have to do that before you stuff it - you flip them inside out and sew up both seams (leaving the leg holes open).

Please someone help :(  No matter what I try and use, I just cannot make the claws for this!  The material is either too stiff (cant sew it then turn it inside out) or so flimsy the stitches tear apart when turned inside out.  Can anyone please offer advice as to what material can be used?

I'm not quite sure what I'd use, since I decided to op-out of that feature on my own toothless :/. I'd say just use the fleece?

I was wondering what you used for the eyes? The tutorial doesn't specify and I would really like to know, thanks

I just used layers of felt and hot glue. I think the original artist uses clay eyes she made herself but I'm no sculptor so I just went with what I was comfortable with.

Unfortunately, this isnt my pattern. The original source is in the description, and on top of that toothless is a copyrighted creature. Normally I'd be game for it, but he is just so protected (especially right now with the new movie) that making money off of it is probably very illegal. But, the original pattern in so very easy and fun to follow - she has a very clear step by step tutorial. Again, sorry :c

When using the pellets, do you just dump them into the feet and hope they stay? Won't they go everywhere when you lift up his legs? Thanks :)

Well, this isn't my pattern, nor is Toothless my creation. It's against the law, and mean to the person who created the pattern, to sell something like this for profit. All I can say is go to :iconnooby-banana: 's pattern and make one yourself. It's an amazing experience and you'll learn a lot from doing it! And then at the end, you could step back and say "Ah! Look what I made!"

Yup, but I made a few paper models before I just went a cutting away. Make sure the shape makes sense before cutting and then gluing - hot glue is final.
